HARVESTING THE EARTH’S ENERGY

Smart farming, also known as precision agriculture, can increase yields of crops.  But a challenge for it is to find sustainable electricity that powers sensors and wireless systems. To address this issue, Sensingnet and Asahi Kasei Microdevices have been successful at developing a small battery, using microorganism like bacteria in soil and its ultra-low energy-consumption unique circuit board.

Here comes a new type of energy produced by bacteria.  This is a significant technology that will secure a permanent supply of power from almost any place that microbial activity exists.  The next phase will be exploring the water.
